N0LSR - Udo

Thank you for your interest in my website.

I was born in Mannheim Germany. My first call was DC4IP which I received in 1972. A couple of years later I upgraded to a "full" license with the call sign DF5IY.

I obtained my US license in 1987 as N0LSR (back then a Technician+). In 1990 I took the opportunity and got transferred to Illinois from my company. Shortly thereafter I upgraded to Advanced and in 2008 to Extra.

I am now working for a German Company in Buffalo Grove, IL as applications engineer for building automation systems. I am very active in the North Shore Radio Club, Highland Park, IL (nr. Chicago) as the Build Club Lead, Webmaster (WWW.NS9RC.ORG) and Communications Director.

My main station radios are two ICOM 7300, one on a Butternut HV9 on the ground for 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m and the other on a 18ft elevated vertical with tuner for 60m, 30m, 17m and 12m. I also have a FT-991A permanently connected to a 6m Helo and monitoring for band openings on FT8.

For portable operation I use a 599Labs TX500 with the PA500 and a Chameleon vertical EMCOM antenna. My favorite mode is FT8 on all bands.

You also find me on our local NS9RC UHF repeater and on D-Star Talk-group 51C.
