It is with great sadness to report that Elwood Downey, WB0OEW, the developer and driving force behind HamClock passed away January 29th, 2026. He not only was the inventor of HamClock he also owned the server where the backend for HamClock is running. That is where most of the data is coming from HamClock displays. That server may shut down in June. However, with a distribution of over 20,000 HamClocks in Ham Radio community I am confident that a contingency solution will be found.
A lot happened in the last week. There are multiple people working on ways to keep HamClock alive. The current concept of HamClock as an easy to setup and to operate device is upmost priority for the by me supported future version. After release of that version an image will made available for the Quadra4k and the HK1RBOX to allow an easy flash upgrade. I am confident that this can happen in a few weeks.
